To ring in spring, Bob and Jackie Douglas, owners of Tehama Oaks Vineyard & Winery in Red Bluff, will be hosting their Tehama Oaks Wildflowers and Wine Spring Celebration on Saturday, March 15 from 2:00 to 6:00 pm.

“Tehama

“We’re opening our quaint little winery to introduce people to our quality wines,” says Bob, Tehama Oaks’ winemaker. “It’s an ideal time to share our winemaking process, and it’s a wonderful and relaxing way to spend time with friends, family and members of our community.”

Surrounded by vibrant people and vibrant wines, Bob and Jackie will introduce their latest release, a 2013 Viognier. This light, lively white offers flavors reminiscent of ripe apricots, fresh pineapples and tropical fruits, making it a perfect springtime wine. Aged five months in French oak, this charming varietal is handcrafted from grapes grown by Tumbas Vineyard in the Shenandoah Valley of Amador County.

Since 2010, Bob and Jackie have been dedicated to producing fine wines representative of the Tehama region. Always hands-on, they use modern equipment to create limited production wines in an old world style. In four short years, Tehama Oaks has produced several award-winning wines, and that list continues to grow.

To celebrate growth, good wine and community, Bob and Jackie invite guests to sample their latest release as well as eight other wines. “We’ll be offering tastings of our 2012 Viognier, 2012 Tres Francais, 2011 Syrah, 2012 Syrah, 2012 Petite Sirah and 2011 Tehamador Red Blend,” says Bob. “And guests will have the chance to taste our 2011 Petite Sirah and 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon, both silver medal winners at the 2014 Florida International Wine Competition.”

In addition to tasting, guests will have the opportunity to tour the winemaking facilities, and if they’re feeling sporty, play a game of bocce ball in the vineyard.

“The cost is $5 per person and that includes tickets for a five-wine flight tasting, light appetizers and music,” says Bob. “We’ll do a barrel tasting as well.”
